<video:title>Cupertino Whole-House Remodel & 764 SF Front Addition | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group transforms a 1963 Cupertino, California ranch home through a 764-square-foot front addition and complete whole-house remodel. The project expands the residence from 1,723 square feet to 2,487 square feet, creating a modern four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom all-electric home while working within local lot-coverage, setback, and bird-safe glazing requirements.

Whole-House Remodel + Front Addition
The new 764-square-foot front addition creates space for a new primary suite, walk-in closet, private bathroom, high-ceiling foyer, additional bedroom, and full guest bathroom. Inside the existing home, the floor plan is reorganized around an open living room, dining area, kitchen, pantry, laundry alcove, powder room, and improved secondary bedrooms.

The finished residence includes:

2,487 SF of conditioned living area
764 SF front addition
444 SF attached garage
4 bedrooms
3.5 bathrooms
Open kitchen, dining, and family gathering areas
New primary suite with curbless shower
High-ceiling entry foyer

Modern All-Electric Home Systems
The remodel goes beyond additional square footage. The original 100-amp electrical service is upgraded to 400 amps, providing capacity for Level 1 and Level 2 EV charging as well as future electrification. Legacy gas heating and split air conditioning are replaced with an all-electric, multi-zone heat-pump system using attic-mounted duct distribution and MERV 13 filtration.

Additional performance and safety improvements include:

Class A cool-roof assembly
Fire sprinkler system
1-hour fire-rated garage separation
High-performance building envelope
Ceramic-fritted bird-safe glazing
Efficient plumbing fixtures
Seismic and structural upgrades

Cupertino Planning & Site Strategy
The project is planned on a 7,419-square-foot lot, retaining the existing 444-square-foot garage while expanding the residence toward the front of the property. The design maintains one-story massing and coordinates the home’s new footprint with Cupertino setback and lot-coverage requirements.

The completed footprint reaches 44.8% lot coverage without eaves and 45.5% with eaves, with a 21′-4″ front setback, 31′-10″ rear setback, and 5′-0″ and 11′-0″ side setbacks.

Construction Journey
The project progresses through a coordinated residential construction sequence that includes:

Site preparation, selective demolition, and tree protection
Foundation expansion and retrofit
Floor framing and curbless shower preparation
Structural framing, shear walls, and ridge beams
Building envelope, glazing, and MEP rough-ins
Interior finishes, system commissioning, and municipal closeout

This Cupertino remodeling project demonstrates how an older California ranch home can be expanded and modernized while integrating structural improvements, electrification, accessibility features, energy-efficient systems, and contemporary residential design.
<video:title>Bradbury Two-Story Home Addition & Residential Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group transformed an existing one-story residence in Bradbury, California through a major two-story home addition and targeted residential remodel. The project combines a 415-square-foot interior remodel with 2,320 square feet of new construction, expanding the completed residence to 4,472 square feet while preserving key portions of the original home. Builtech Construction Group

Bradbury Home Addition & Remodel
Rather than replacing the existing residence, the project strategically integrates new construction with retained bedrooms, bathrooms, library, family room and attached garage. The remodeled kitchen, pantry and dining area creates the transition between the original structure and the new expansion. Builtech Construction Group

The 977-square-foot first-floor addition introduces a grand foyer, formal living room, powder room, storage, laundry area and central stair hall. Above it, a 1,138-square-foot second story adds a primary suite with dual walk-in closets and a five-piece bathroom, along with an additional en-suite bedroom. Builtech Construction Group

Project Highlights
The residential expansion also incorporates:

46-square-foot covered front entry
159-square-foot rear covered porch
Connected kitchen, pantry and dining spaces
Formal living room with raised 9-foot ceilings
Primary suite with dual walk-in closets
Secondary en-suite bedroom
Three-coat stucco and cast-stone trim
Stone veneer and fiber-cement lap siding
Class A asphalt-shingle roofing
Radiant-barrier roof sheathing
Interconnected alarms and NFPA 13D fire sprinklers Builtech Construction Group

From One Story to Two
The construction process progresses from selective demolition and preparation of the existing residence through foundation and structural tie-ins, first-floor framing, second-story framing and roof integration, building-system coordination, fire-sprinkler installation and exterior finishes. Builtech Construction Group

The finished design brings together expanded gathering spaces, private bedroom suites, additional storage and covered outdoor living while maintaining a coordinated architectural transition between the original home and the new two-story construction.

This Bradbury project is a useful case study for homeowners considering a second-story addition, major home expansion, whole-home remodel or residential addition in Southern California.
<video:title>Cupertino 677 SF Rear & Side Home Addition + Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group expanded and modernized a single-story Cupertino, California residence with a 677-square-foot rear and side addition, a new primary suite, expanded living room, remodeled kitchen, covered front porch, complete roof replacement, and coordinated building-system upgrades.

The project increases the home’s conditioned living area from 1,117 to 1,794 square feet while preserving its single-story layout. The design integrates new living space with the existing residence while addressing zoning, lot coverage, exterior finishes, roofing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and life-safety systems. Builtech Construction Group

Cupertino Home Addition & Remodel
The 677 SF addition creates:

A new primary bedroom suite
Walk-in closet
Full primary bathroom with dual-sink vanity and tiled shower
Expanded living and gathering space
Reconfigured kitchen with new cabinetry and solid-surface countertops
Kitchen island with integrated sink and dishwasher
69 SF covered front porch with concrete steps

The remodeled kitchen introduces an island-centered layout with updated cabinetry, appliances, exhaust ventilation, and additional functionality for everyday living.

Exterior & Roof Improvements
The project also includes a complete roof-covering replacement using a Class A composition-shingle assembly, along with new underlayment, flashings, crickets, gutters, downspouts, and attic ventilation.
New stucco and selected simulated-stone accents coordinate the addition with the existing home while creating a cohesive exterior appearance.

Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Upgrades
Major home systems are modernized as part of the renovation, including:

Updated heating and cooling
Relocated 200-amp electrical service
High-efficacy lighting and lighting controls
Interconnected alarms
Domestic water improvements
Sewer cleanout
Dedicated hot-water line
Water-heater seismic restraint

Planning the Cupertino Addition
The project sits on a 6,433-square-foot lot and results in 1,794 SF of conditioned living area plus the retained 442 SF garage. The design coordinates the home addition with documented setbacks, floor-area requirements, lot coverage, and existing site conditions. Builtech Construction Group

This project demonstrates how a carefully planned rear and side addition can create a larger primary suite, more usable shared living space, a modernized kitchen, and updated home infrastructure without converting a single-story residence into a multi-level home.
<video:title>Bradbury Two-Story Home Addition & Residential Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group approached a major two-story home addition and residential remodel in Bradbury, California, expanding an existing one-story residence into a significantly larger and more functional home.

The project combines a 415-square-foot interior remodel with 2,320 square feet of new construction, resulting in a 4,472-square-foot completed structure. Rather than rebuilding the entire residence, the design preserves key existing spaces—including bedrooms, bathrooms, the library, family room, and attached garage—while carefully connecting them to the new expansion. Builtech Construction Group

Bradbury Home Addition & Remodel Scope
The project includes:

A 977-square-foot first-floor addition featuring a grand foyer, formal living room, powder room, storage, laundry area, and central stair hall. Builtech Construction Group
A 1,138-square-foot second story with a new primary suite, dual walk-in closets, five-piece primary bathroom, and an additional en-suite bedroom. Builtech Construction Group
A 415-square-foot kitchen, pantry, and dining remodel designed to create a natural transition between the retained residence and the new construction. Builtech Construction Group
A 46-square-foot covered front entry and 159-square-foot covered rear porch, adding sheltered arrival and outdoor living areas. Builtech Construction Group

Integrating the Existing Home With New Construction
A major challenge in a large residential addition is making the original home and new construction feel like one cohesive residence.

For this Bradbury project, the design coordinates the retained 2,152-square-foot building area with the new two-story expansion while addressing structural connections, circulation, room transitions, building systems, and exterior architectural continuity. Builtech Construction Group

The exterior design brings the old and new portions together using three-coat stucco, cast-stone trim, stone veneer, fiber-cement lap siding, and a Class A asphalt-shingle roof. Builtech Construction Group

New Living Spaces
The expanded home introduces several major functional upgrades:

Grand foyer with dedicated shoe and coat storage
Formal living room with raised 9-foot ceilings
Reconfigured kitchen, pantry, and dining connection
Private upstairs primary suite
Dual primary walk-in closets
Five-piece primary bathroom
Additional upstairs en-suite bedroom
Covered rear outdoor living area Builtech Construction Group

Construction & Building Systems
The construction sequence progresses from selective demolition and interior preparation through foundation and structural tie-ins, first-floor framing, second-story framing and roof integration, MEP coordination, fire sprinklers, life-safety work, and final exterior finishes. Builtech Construction Group
The design also incorporates Class A asphalt roofing, radiant-barrier sheathing, interconnected alarms, and an NFPA 13D residential fire sprinkler system. Builtech Construction Group

This Builtech project demonstrates how a substantial Bradbury home addition and remodel can preserve valuable portions of an existing residence while creating the additional living space, private suites, circulation, outdoor areas, and architectural character of a much larger two-story home.
<video:title>Fremont 721 SF Home Addition & Whole-Home Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>Explore a Fremont, California home addition and whole-home remodel that transforms an existing 1,314-square-foot single-story residence into a more flexible 1,975-square-foot multi-generational home. The project combines 721 square feet of additions with a 1,050-square-foot interior remodel, creating more space for family living, guests, entertaining and everyday functionality. Builtech Construction Group

Fremont Home Addition & Remodel
The expansion is organized around three major additions:

436 SF rear family room with 10-foot plates, large sliding doors and direct access to the outdoor area
225 SF front addition creating a flexible guest suite with nearby full-bath access
60 SF covered front porch providing a more protected and defined entry

Inside the existing home, approximately 1,050 square feet is reorganized across the kitchen, primary bathroom, bedrooms, hallways and shared living spaces. The redesigned layout helps connect the original residence with the new front and rear additions while maintaining the home's single-story character. Builtech Construction Group

Designed for Multi-Generational Living
A key goal of this Fremont remodel is creating spaces that can serve different generations and changing household needs.

The new rear family room becomes a larger gathering area connected to the kitchen and dining spaces. At the front of the home, the semi-private guest wing adds a bedroom, closet and nearby full bathroom that can function as guest accommodations, multi-generational living space or a quiet home office. Builtech Construction Group

The remodeled 160 SF island kitchen incorporates a central island, dedicated appliance circuits and efficient task lighting while strengthening the connection between the kitchen, dining area and family room. Builtech Construction Group

Coordinated Residential Design & Engineering
The addition was planned around the existing foundation, crawlspace, roof geometry and residential site constraints. The permit design coordinates architectural plans, structural connections, roof and ceiling framing, foundation work, exterior elevations, electrical planning and other building systems. Builtech Construction Group

The approximately 6,630 SF lot accommodates the expanded residence, attached garage, new covered entry and exterior circulation. The proposed home remains single story with a stated building height of approximately 14 feet 7 inches. Builtech Construction Group

Building-System Upgrades
The remodel also modernizes major home systems, including:

New attic HVAC system
200-amp electrical service
EV-ready infrastructure
Efficient lighting and lighting controls
Upgraded insulation
Water-saving plumbing fixtures
Class A composite roofing
Three-coat stucco exterior assembly

These improvements allow the remodel and additions to function as one coordinated residence rather than separate pieces added onto the existing home. Builtech Construction Group

Construction Process
The project sequence includes site protection and selective demolition, excavation and foundation connections, slab and crawlspace work, moisture control, shear-wall and roof framing, mechanical and electrical upgrades, exterior stucco, interior finishes and final closeout. Builtech Construction Group

This Builtech Construction Group project demonstrates how a carefully planned Fremont home addition and whole-house remodel can expand living space while supporting multi-generational living, modern building systems and a practical single-story layout.
<video:title>Fremont Home Interior Remodel & Multi-Room Addition | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group transforms a compact 1950s Fremont, California residence through a comprehensive interior remodel and 757.3-square-foot multi-room rear addition.

The project expands an original 1,270-square-foot, three-bedroom, one-bathroom home into approximately 2,050.3 square feet with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, adding a private primary suite, open island kitchen, coffered great room and updated building systems.

Fremont Home Addition & Interior Remodel
The remodel reorganizes the original compartmentalized floor plan around more open, flexible living spaces while expanding the home toward the rear yard.

Major elements include:

757.3 SF single-story rear addition
23 SF covered entry foyer
Four-bedroom, three-bathroom finished layout
Private primary bedroom suite
9-foot coffered great room
Sliding-glass-door connection to the backyard
Updated front façade, windows and entry doors

Designing the Addition Around the Existing Home
The addition was planned within Fremont R-1-6 zoning on a 10,105-square-foot lot. The expanded footprint reaches 25.49% lot coverage with a 20.06% floor area ratio while maintaining required setbacks and substantial usable yard area.
The coordinated project drawings cover site planning, floor plans, elevations, structural sections, foundation design, roof framing and opening schedules.

Modern Building Systems & Safety Upgrades
Beyond adding living space, the project modernizes core infrastructure throughout the residence.

Upgrades include:

200-amp electrical service
New appliance, HVAC and branch circuits
Raceway provision for future Level 2 EV charging
NFPA 13-D residential fire sprinklers
Interconnected smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms
Earthquake-actuated gas shutoff
Title 24-compliant HVAC and insulation
CALGreen-related efficiency improvements
Low-VOC finishes
WaterSense plumbing fixtures

Construction Process
The project progresses through six coordinated stages, beginning with permitting, site staking and utility coordination before moving through foundation work, structural tie-ins, crawlspace and floor framing, shear walls and roof integration, building-system upgrades, exterior finishes and final approvals.
For homeowners considering a Fremont home addition, whole-home remodel, primary-suite addition or single-story residential expansion, this project demonstrates how an older California home can gain meaningful square footage while improving layout, comfort, safety and building performance.
The project combines a 721-square-foot total expansion with 1,050 square feet of interior remodeling, creating a larger rear family room, flexible front guest suite, redesigned kitchen and primary bathroom, improved living areas, and modernized building systems.

Fremont Home Addition & Remodel
The existing 1,314-square-foot home is expanded with two strategically placed additions:

436 SF Rear Family Room: A high-ceiling gathering space with 10-foot plates and broad sliding-door connections to the outdoor living area.
225 SF Front Guest Wing: A flexible bedroom with private closet and adjacent full-bath access for guests, extended family, or a home office.
60 SF Covered Front Porch: Adds weather protection while creating a more defined entrance and improving curb appeal.
1,050 SF Interior Remodel: Reconfigures the kitchen, primary bathroom, bedrooms, halls, and existing living areas.

Open-Concept Interior Transformation
At the center of the remodeled home is a 160-square-foot island kitchen designed around cooking, dining, and entertaining. The new layout connects directly with the expanded rear family room, helping create a more open and functional everyday living environment.

The project also redesigns the primary bathroom suite and reorganizes existing bedrooms and circulation areas to support flexible multi-generational living.

Modern Home Systems & Energy Upgrades
The renovation goes beyond additional living space. Builtech's scope incorporates:

200-amp electrical service
EV-ready raceway
High-efficacy JA8 lighting
Efficient attic HVAC
Water-conserving plumbing fixtures
R-19 floor insulation
R-38 ceiling insulation
High-performance wall assemblies
Class A composite roofing
Three-coat stucco exterior assembly

Integrated Construction Process
The construction journey includes selective demolition, excavation, foundation integration, crawl-space preparation, structural and shear-wall framing, roof framing, MEP rough-ins, envelope installation, finish work, and final municipal approvals.

For homeowners considering a Fremont home addition, whole-house remodel, guest suite addition, or multi-generational home renovation, this project demonstrates how new square footage can be thoughtfully integrated into an existing single-story residence while preserving usable outdoor space.
<video:title>Monterey Park Two-Story Custom Home Construction | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>Explore a ground-up two-story custom home project in Monterey Park, California, where an existing one-story residence and garage are replaced with a new 3,258-square-foot custom residence designed around spacious living, indoor-outdoor connection, and future-ready building systems. The completed program includes four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, an enclosed den, bonus room, attached two-car garage, and covered rear patio. Builtech Construction Group

Monterey Park Custom Home Project
This Builtech Construction Group project demonstrates the planning and construction process behind a substantial ground-up custom residence in Southern California. The new home combines a 1,429-square-foot first floor with a 1,829-square-foot second floor, creating 3,258 square feet of living area on an 18,410-square-foot lot. Builtech Construction Group

Key project features include:

3,258 SF two-story custom residence
Four bedrooms and four full bathrooms
Ground-floor guest bedroom
Cathedral-ceiling primary suite
Double-height foyer and great room
Open island kitchen with walk-in pantry
Central bonus room and dedicated laundry

Architecture, Materials & Building Systems
The exterior combines a three-coat light stucco finish, concrete flat tile roofing, standing-seam metal accents, and bronze low-E glazing. The approximately 28-foot-tall two-story design balances substantial interior volume with the site's residential planning requirements. Builtech Construction Group

The project also coordinates modern residential infrastructure including:

Rooftop photovoltaic solar
225-amp electrical service
EV-ready garage electrical infrastructure
Energy-storage preparation
Residential fire sprinklers
Low-flow plumbing fixtures
High-performance glazing Builtech Construction Group

From Demolition to Finished Custom Home
The construction journey begins with complete demolition of the previous residence and garage, followed by site preparation, foundations and underground utilities, two-story structural framing, roofing and exterior enclosure, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, solar and fire-sprinkler installation, interior finishes, commissioning, and final closeout. Builtech Construction Group

For homeowners researching Monterey Park custom home construction, two-story home design, ground-up residential construction, or Southern California custom home builders, this project provides a detailed look at how architecture, engineering, permitting, construction, energy systems, and modern living requirements come together in one coordinated residence.
<video:title>San Jose 220 SF Rear Addition & Interior Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>Explore this San Jose, California residential transformation featuring a 220-square-foot rear addition and comprehensive interior remodel by Builtech Construction Group. The project expands the original 1,814-square-foot single-story residence to 2,034 square feet, creating additional space for the primary suite and shared living areas while preserving the home’s established one-story character. Builtech Construction Group

San Jose Home Addition & Remodel
Rather than adding a second story, the design extends the rear building line and reorganizes the existing floor plan to create a more open, functional home. The kitchen, dining room and living room are brought together into an open-concept great room, anchored by a large kitchen island and enhanced ceiling details. Builtech Construction Group

The addition also supports an expanded primary suite, including a larger bedroom, dedicated walk-in closet and updated primary bathroom. Three secondary bedrooms, closets and the common bathroom are incorporated into the broader interior modernization. Builtech Construction Group

More Natural Light & Indoor-Outdoor Connection
New 2-by-4-foot skylights and sun tunnels introduce natural daylight into interior corridors, bathrooms and other areas that would otherwise receive limited exterior light. New sliding doors and exterior landings help strengthen the connection between the remodeled interior and outdoor spaces. Builtech Construction Group

Coordinated Structural & Building-System Upgrades
The project combines architectural remodeling with structural and performance upgrades, including:

Reinforced stem-wall foundations and engineered framing
Wood shear walls and high-performance shear panels
Coordinated roof extensions and matching stucco finishes
Fire-retardant roofing
High-efficiency heat-pump systems
EV-capable garage electrical infrastructure
LED controls and water-efficient fixtures
Low-VOC materials Builtech Construction Group

The design coordinates architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy and CalGreen requirements within a unified residential addition and remodel plan. Builtech Construction Group

Construction Process
The project illustrates the progression of a San Jose home addition from selective demolition and site preparation through foundations, structural framing, roofing, exterior integration, mechanical and electrical work, interior finishes and final closeout. Builtech Construction Group

For homeowners considering a San Jose home addition, rear addition, whole-home remodel or primary-suite expansion, this project demonstrates how a relatively compact footprint increase can significantly reshape the functionality, daylight and flow of an existing single-story residence.
<video:title>San Jose Home Addition & Remodel | 509 SF Front Expansion | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group transformed an existing single-story San Jose, California home through a 509-square-foot front addition and 803-square-foot interior remodel, expanding the conditioned living area from 1,356 to 1,865 square feet while retaining the existing attached two-car garage. Builtech Construction Group

This residential addition and remodeling project demonstrates how thoughtful planning can increase usable living space, modernize an existing floor plan, and introduce high-performance structural, electrical, roofing, HVAC, and energy upgrades without sacrificing the home's rear yard.

San Jose Home Addition & Remodel

The new front addition creates several important living spaces:

Dedicated private home office
Covered front entry porch
Formal powder room
Expanded family living room

Inside the original residence, approximately 803 square feet were reconfigured to create a more open and flexible layout. The redesigned kitchen, dining, and living areas connect through an open-concept plan centered around an island kitchen, while the private areas were reorganized into a primary suite with walk-in closet, a secondary en-suite bedroom, and a flexible third bedroom. Builtech Construction Group

Maximizing the Existing San Jose Property

The project sits on a 5,558-square-foot residential lot. Rather than expanding into the backyard, the design moves the residence forward while respecting the required 25-foot front setback.
The completed design increases the home's Floor Area Ratio from 24.3% to 33.5%, remaining below the referenced 45% maximum. Front-yard paving totals 49%, also remaining within the project's applicable planning limit. Builtech Construction Group

This approach adds valuable conditioned space while helping preserve a generous rear yard.
Modern Architectural & Interior Improvements
Major design features include:

Open-concept great room, kitchen, and dining area
Kitchen island and modern cabinetry
Dedicated front office for remote work
Primary bedroom suite with walk-in closet
Secondary en-suite bedroom
Standing seam metal roof
Four skylights
Vaulted ceiling sections
Updated exterior and concrete paving

These improvements combine contemporary residential design with practical everyday functionality. Builtech Construction Group

Structural & High-Performance Upgrades

The remodel also incorporates major building-system improvements rather than focusing only on finishes.

Project upgrades include MiTek Hardy Frame HFX steel shear panels for lateral resistance, a 200-amp electrical service, a dedicated 40-amp EV branch circuit, relocated solar PV panels, high-efficiency heat-pump conditioning, and coordinated plumbing and mechanical upgrades. Builtech Construction Group

<video:title>San Jose Home Remodel + 1,085 SF Addition | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>Explore a major San Jose, California home remodel and 1,085-square-foot addition by Builtech Construction Group. The approved project expands a 1959 single-story residence from approximately 1,300 square feet to 2,385 square feet of conditioned living space, transforming the original three-bedroom, two-bathroom layout into a five-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom family home.

San Jose Home Addition & Whole-House Remodel
The project combines front and rear additions with a substantial interior reconfiguration. An existing 356-square-foot rear sunroom is removed, fragmented spaces are reorganized, and the home is redesigned around larger, more functional living areas.

Key elements of the design include:

1,085 SF of added conditioned living space
2,385 SF total living area
Five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms
New primary suite with walk-in closet
Open kitchen and dining area
10-foot-high family room
Separate living room
Dedicated laundry room
Walk-in pantry
Covered front porch
Multiple curb-mounted Velux skylights

Modern Building-System Upgrades
Beyond expanding the floor plan, the remodel coordinates structural, electrical, HVAC and plumbing improvements throughout the residence.

The approved scope includes a new 200-amp electrical service, interior subpanel and dedicated 240-volt EV charging circuit, along with split-system HVAC, tankless water heating and upgraded plumbing fixtures. New skylights bring additional daylight into the expanded interior.

Construction & Structural Planning
The construction plan progresses from selective demolition into new foundations, framing and structural reinforcement.

Major phases include:

Removal of the existing sunroom and selected interior elements
Reinforced-concrete foundation work and tie-ins
Floor, wall and roof framing
Shear walls and seismic connections
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in
Building-envelope, roofing, drainage and closeout work

Located on a 7,200-square-foot San Jose parcel, the design maintains the home's single-story form while substantially increasing usable living space. The plans were reviewed and stamped by the City of San Jose Building Division for code compliance on February 20, 2025.

For homeowners researching a San Jose home addition contractor, whole-house remodel, single-story home expansion or residential design-build project, this Builtech case study illustrates how an older Bay Area home can be reconfigured and expanded for modern family living.
<video:title>San Jose Home Addition & Whole-Home Remodel | Builtech</video:title>
<video:description>See how Builtech Construction Group transformed a compact single-story San Jose residence through a 580-square-foot front addition and comprehensive whole-home modernization. The project expands the home from 1,249 to 1,829 square feet of conditioned living space while creating a more functional four-bedroom, three-bathroom layout.

San Jose Home Addition & Remodel
Rather than simply adding square footage, the design reorganizes how the home functions. The original side entrance is replaced with a prominent street-facing foyer, while the expanded floor plan introduces a larger living room, upgraded kitchen, walk-in pantry, dedicated dining area and private primary suite.

Project highlights include:

580 SF front addition
1,829 SF conditioned living area
4-bedroom, 3-bathroom layout
17′ × 15′ living room with 9-foot ceilings
New street-facing foyer and improved arrival sequence
Expanded kitchen with walk-in pantry
Private primary bedroom suite with walk-in closet and en-suite bath
Existing and new construction integrated into one cohesive single-story residence

Planning the Expansion
The addition was designed around the existing San Jose property while preserving driveway clearance, backyard patio space and side-yard access. The architectural and engineering work coordinated the site plan, floor plan, elevations, building sections, roof and ventilation design, foundation and structural systems.

The completed design maintains a low-profile single-story form while increasing usable interior space and improving the home's connection to the street.

Construction & Building Systems
The project progresses from site preparation and selective demolition through foundation integration, floor framing, wall framing, shear panels, roof tie-ins, building-system upgrades and final architectural finishes.

Additional improvements include a 200-amp electrical service, Title 24-compliant systems, ventilation upgrades, seismic hold-downs, shear walls, low-VOC finishes, water-conserving fixtures and upgraded thermal-envelope insulation. Exterior materials—including smooth stucco, asphalt roofing and coordinated trim—were selected to visually integrate the addition with the original home.

This San Jose residential project demonstrates how a thoughtfully planned home addition and whole-house remodel can increase usable space while modernizing layout, building systems, energy performance and everyday functionality.
